Carbon copy of transcript of letter to the Monterey County Treasurer (Dec. 31, 1853) from Marvin in his capacity as California Superintendent of Public Instruction, transmitting a statement of state school money for 1853. Also includes a statement of each county's apportionment. Correspondence, reports, notes, and memoranda chiefly concerning Marvin's career in state government. Includes memorandum of agreement made between Marvin and James D. Savage, July 11, 1851 (microfilm, reel 1); memorial from General Vallejo proposing to donate land for a State Capitol, 1850 (microfilm, reel 2); letters, 1851-1854 (microfilm, reel 2); and a collection of annual reports, petitions, and a file on Joaquin Murietta (microfilm, reel 2).
